Sick of High Taxes, Home Prices, and Cost of Living? Move to Katy!
Earlier this week I talked about things you could do to prevent a home foreclosure in Katy, Texas. Of course, these tips can be used in any city across the county. So, even if you are in California, Florida, or New York, feel free to use my suggestions as a way to help your family avoid the foreclosure of your home.
Of course, if you are a Californian you may be considering relocation to Texas… and you’re not alone. Many Californians over the last few years have been relocating to cities across Texas. Often, you’ll find native born Californians living in Houston communities and buying real estate in Katy, Sugar Land, Spring, Cypress, and Fulshear. It really doesn’t take much to understand the reasons that brought these lovers of the California sun all the way to the Buffalo Bayou; it all comes down to a five letter word: money.
The cost of living in California surpasses the cost of living almost anywhere. In California a few years ago you couldn’t even purchase a mobile home for under $200,000. A modest single family home with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a tiny backyard in Newport Beach currently costs no less than $600,000. For a less expensive California home you can travel slightly inland to the city of Anaheim where you’ll find a SFR for less than $300,000. However, these homes were typically built in the early 1900′s and haven’t been upgraded or remodeled.
Not only are Californians saddled with high real estate prices but high taxes as well. In fact, if you’ve been following the news you’d know that California already had the highest tax rates of any state in the country AND they were just raised again! The state is now losing more residents than it is gaining for the first time in a very, very long time. The sunshine, mountains and coastal beaches are only worth so much. And now, residents of California are finding a new sanctuary within our own communities in Houston.
If you are considering relocating to Houston or other Houston communities like Katy, please feel free to contact me for more information. As a long time resident I would love to help acclimate your family to our beautiful Texas community. Chances are you might run into an old friend or neighbor that relocated to Katy as well!
