Cinco Ranch Triathlon
One of the highlights of the Katy Texas year, one that is looked forward too by many Katy real estate owners, is the Cinco Ranch Triathlon. A grueling event which sees the participants swimming for 400 meters, cycling for 19 miles and running the last 3 miles of a course which starts at Cinco Crossing.
Registration as a competitor is fairly inexpensive, for those who really do not feel they can do everything alone can register as part of a two man or three man relay team, this option is often chosen by families who see the whole event as a fantastic chance of a fun day out. Be warned, only 850 participants are allowed each year, register early to avoid disappointment.
There are several divisions within the Triathlon, firstly the invitation only division, which is solely for entrants who have finished 3rd or better in another Texas triathlon. There is a standard individual category which anyone is free to enter. Men and women are split into age groups, forming subdivisions within age. There is also a very popular junior division open to anybody between the ages of 11 and 19. Moving into the two rather interesting divisions we find the Desperado division for heavyweight men and the Annie Oakley division for heavyweight women.
The Cinco Ranch Triathlon is a major event on the Katy Texas calendar, one that many residents feel cannot be missed, a fantastic and fun day out for the entire family.
